Sewing:
During the first semester of school I worked on sewing and clothing designs independently and with Elle, my sewing mentor. My goal is to sew during one class period every week. I have meetings with Elle every other week during the last band and or after school.
Semester 1:
Heart Top and Matching Skirt!
My first sewing project during pilot was making this heart shaped top. At the beginning of semester 2 I made a matching skirt to complete the set.

Upcycled Skirt and Top!
I turned a dress into the long skirt below by adding a zipper and seaming the sleeves. I altered the tube top by sewing a seam up the side. These were fairly simple projects that helped me to practice sewing seams and zippers.

Sun Top!
This top was inspired by the Claude Monet painting below. I looked through painting books and choose this sunrise. I then wrote down my observations about the painting and drew multiple design options for the top. I used the colors in the painting as inspiration for my fabric choice and the sun as inspiration for the print on the fabric.

Long Skirt!
This long skirt was my last project in semester one of pilot. This was not the original design but I was able to practice adding a slit, sewing a lining, sewing a zipper, and french/rolled seams.

Tote Bag!
|
My goal was to use extra fabric from past projects to make this shit and bag. During these projects I practiced seems, pletes, and patterns. I learned how to make a tie for around the neck of the shirt and how to make a tote bag from Elle.
